I can’t believe we are already in the fourth quarter of the year. What a crazy ride it has been! Nonetheless, it’s time to dig into some reads guaranteed to strengthen your faith, increase your understanding and provide you with strategies to serve all around better. Here’s a list worth considering:
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is an oldie but goodie that you’ve probably heard mentioned a time or two over the years. It’s a read that I find myself returning to often. So, if you’re looking to gain life-changing wisdom and take your experience to the next level, it’s a quick and easy read for anyone on the go or short on time, yet packed with substance.
His Testimonies My Heritage by Women of Color on the Word of God is a MUST-READ for anyone desiring to get into the Word and stick to it. This book catapulted me to a deeper level of understanding of not only scripture but of what it truly meant to delight in the Word as we ought. This book is a unique work of art written by seven women of color. YES- you read that right. SEVEN brilliant women of God partnered together to walk us through Psalm 119 while ensuring that the relativity is everpresent. I could go on and on about this one, so get it, sis!
Holier Than Thou by Jackie Hill Perry is a beautiful book on how God’s holiness helps us trust Him. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love Jackie Hill Perry. Her mind and approach to teaching the Word are, in short, impeccable. If you have not heard of our good sis in Christ, do yourself a favor and check her out. But grab this book first, lol.
Relational Intelligence by Dr. Dharius Daniels is a complete gem! This book teaches us what Proverbs 13:20 means and how it relates to our daily lives. More specifically, “The people Skills You Need for the Life of Purpose You Want.” The application of this scripture can look different for everyone depending on season and position. Still, Dr. Daniels does an extraordinary job of breaking them all down so that we can be wise in our decision-making and daily operations with others. We could all grow in the area of relationships to some degree so this is a biblical and realistic approach to it all that you absolutely need.
As we move toward the new year, many are in a reflective state of mind regarding our goals, accomplishments, and relationships. They all make up our experience here on earth and if we are wise, we should reflect on these things often. Don’t wait until the new year to take the step to be better and upgrade your life. Start now. Today. These books, along with much time with the Father in His Word and prayer, will help you move in the right direction.
