As I have grown to desire a deeper understanding of God’s Word, I discovered that although the Bible and the Holy Spirit are truly enough, I could use a little more help. Developing and establishing a solid, sound strategy, in addition to a few other tools have truly transformed the way that I not only experience my time with the Lord, but the way that I approach the time, Word, and my ability to grow in biblical literacy.

As an educator, “literacy” is a word that is heard often and an area of major focus in the education system. But, I have found that I have not heard it much in relation to the Bible and study of God’s Word. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, literacy is defined as the quality or state of being literate or to read and write. Over time, this definition and the overall idea of being literate encompasses so much more. It is the ability to engage with and make sense of information via language, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Overall comprehension.

I don’t know about you, but I remember so many times that I would pick up the bible with the purest of intentions. I would be pumped y’all! lol I would be ready and then sit there thinking, “ok…what did I even just read? What was the purpose of it? I don’t even know this word? Who are all of these people with these weird names and why are there so many?!” If this is or was you, then keep on reading. These tools have assisted me in answering these questions at some point in my time or study or another. I may not use them all every day, but they are within arm’s reach should I be led to or need some more help.

Check out my latest video on some of these items and find links to them in the description box as well. Hope you find it helpful and enjoy it!
